The Inria Saclay-Île-de-France Research Centre was established in 2008. It has developed as part of the Saclay site in partnership with Paris-Saclay University and with the Institut Polytechnique de Paris .

The centre has, 27 of which operate jointly with Paris-Saclay University and the Institut Polytechnique de Paris; Its activities occupy over 600 people, scientists and research and innovation support staff, including 44 different nationalities.

Contexte et atouts du poste

This postdoc is funded by an ANR funding, more specifically the HQI project, which is in the context
of Plan Quantique. The candidate will work on topics that are relevant to one (or more) of the
following:

* category theory
* mathematical physics
* point-free topology
causality
* type systems/programming languages for quantum computation

The selected applicant will join the Inria QuaCS team in the laboratory LMF (Laboratoire Méthodes
Formelles) on Plateau de Saclay.

Mission confiée

The postdoc candidate is expected to participate in the scientific activities of the team, to perform scientific research of a high quality that can be published in internationally recognised conferences and journals that are relevant to the above topics. As part of the
publication and communication process, it is important for the candidate to acknowledge the funding received from the ANR project HQI. Ideally, the candidate should make some effort in explaining the relevance of his research to the HQI project by attending project meetings and making presentations (and other forms of communication) to this effect.

Principales activités

The postdoc candidate will undertake scientific investigation in Theoretical Computer Science. The work to be performed is expected to be primarily theoretical, but a practical component is also possible (in consultation with industry partners), should the candidate be able and willing to do so. One of the first steps for the candidate should be to familiarise himself well with the HQI project and
its objectives and to discuss with Benoît Valiron and other QuaCS team members his plan to contribute to the project. One of the potential research objectives includes studying the categorical foundation of quantum computation and their connection with the design of suitable quantum programming languages, in the context of hybrid classical-quantum information processing and computation.
