The Supportability & Maintenance Engineer plays a key role in the life and profitability of a programme. He/she works across many different areas and gains insight into numerous sectors within Safran Landing Systems. He/she operates in an international environment: internally (Toronto, Gloucester), externally (AIRBUS, BOEING, DASSAULT, ATR for instance) as well as with our potential customers in the civil and military markets.
Reporting to the Integrated Product Support (IPS) manager, the LSA/Product Support Engineer is responsible for Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) supportability plan and its update through both the development and operational phases of the product life cycle. To produce, maintain and update the LSA Records for supportability, maintainability, reliability and cost of ownership performance data. To provide the necessary information and justification data to enable LSA engineering performance requirements to be integrated into the design and support of the product. In addition, the LSA supports internal and external customers, with associated activities to improve the flexibility of Safran landing Systems' offerings.
- Undertake LSA engineering studies and produce predictions reports during the design and development phase for reliability, Life Cycle Cost (LCC), Direct Maintenance Cost (DMC), reliability and logistics in preparation for Entry into Service (EIS) according to the Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) plan.
- Interface between Design Engineering, Procurement and Customer Support during the product development phase to ensure the integration of LSA Engineering supportability, maintainability, reliability and LCC performance requirements.
- Produce a supportability and maintainability evaluation report together with a Level of Repair Analysis (LORA) for the purpose of logistics management and DMC prediction evaluation.
- Specify, produce and update the product support deliverables (including but not limited to MSG-3 analysis, Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA) and validation of the MTA, Human Factors, Initial Provisioning (IP), Ground Support and shop tooling list, Training material).
- Interface with partners, suppliers and subcontractors in respect of LSA activities and requirements.
- To develop and enhance LSA Engineering analysis methodologies and techniques in support of product Research & Technology (R&T) studies and business improvement needs.
Activities focused on Landing Gear products: Airbus Single Aisle Family, A400M, ATR, Dassault Aviation Falcon

Le profil recherché

To succeed in this role you need to be customer focused and you will be expected to demonstrate excellent problem solving, communication and team-working skills with the ability to influence others. To carry out the role effectively, you will have a background in Mechanical and Hydraulic Systems Engineering and are likely to have an understanding of Airworthiness and working in highly regulated environment plus knowledge of aircraft component and systems operations. Knowledge of customers and airframer specific requirements would be beneficial. In addition to your strong technical background, ideal candidates will also have good data analysis/manipulation, report writing and presentation skills (typically but not limited to Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
- Extensive knowledge of aircraft maintenance plan development (MSG-3) and practices.
- Knowledge of LSA engineering practices (supportability, maintainability, availability, reliability, logistics, LCC, etc.).
- Good knowledge of aircraft systems and structure design principals.
- Good knowledge of material properties and protection schemes.
- Knowledge of industry standards (ATA, MSG-3, MIL-1388, S3000L, etc.).
- Proficient in the use of computer tools and use of statistical and mathematical modelling software (Visual Basic programming appreciated).
- Task/project management.
- Transversal management.
- Able to compile technical documents and reports.
- Develop landing gear on-wing repair schemes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, models (CATIA) and process specifications.
